“The Wrong Place, At The Wrong Time”

(The term “YOU” refers to Community, Neighborhood, and the Individual)

Okay. Let’s examine exactly how the saying “The Wrong Place, At The Wrong Time” fits into the overall scheme of things.  There are a few familiar sayings people will quote, from time to time, during the course of a conversation. “You can lead a horse to water…”  “The show must go on…” “I never thought something like this could happen here…” or, when you sneeze, “God bless you…” etc.

The Wrong Place, At The Wrong Time” is being quoted more and more every day but WHEN it’s quoted is what’s troubling.

Here are a couple of questions for YOU:

  1. 1.  If you are relaxing with loved ones (or one) at a movie and upon returning home you find your house has been broken into, were you at “The Wrong Place, At The Wrong Time?
  2. 2.  You are walking down the street heading for the store to get some milk. As you cross the street a car runs the red light and hits you. Were you at “The Wrong Place, At The Wrong Time?
  3. 3.  You are in front of your home (or a relatives home) enjoying the summer night and out of nowhere shots are fired, everyone runs for cover, and in the aftermath a bullet mortally wounds someone. Were you at “The Wrong Place, At The Wrong Time?

Where is “The right place at the right time”?  Does anyone else see something wrong with this picture?  It’s bad enough that people have no sense of security inside their own homes to the point where some actually allow their children watch television ONLY while sitting on the floor!  Now it’s to the point where people can’t even enjoy each other’s company in front of their own homes?  Innocent individuals are becoming statistics for no reason and it sickens more people than YOU know that there is not a louder outcry from YOU!  It’s reached the point where YOU hear gunshots in the middle of the night and the only response is “there they go again…” Oh, wait a minute, I see.  You’re at “The right place at the right time”.   Because it’s not affecting you directly then it’s okay.  YOU better THINK about how it is affecting YOU!  Maybe the 9 to 5, Monday to Friday quote “TGIF” (Thank God it’s Friday) is slowly changing to “TGIMIH” (Thank God I Made It Home)?  Where is “The right place at the right time”?
